Reading the table
The upper ranks mix two business models. PARSONS INC leads with $38.7B from just 188 awards — a $206.0M average characteristic of major project delivery. IBM Canada's $36.5B is the opposite profile: 1,217 awards averaging $30.0M, the recurring-incumbent pattern shared by Microsoft (1,621 awards) and the telecoms. BGIS holds $35.5B over only 25 records — portfolio-scale real-estate contracts averaging $1.42B each, the highest on the list.
Concentration is the structural fact: the 100 highest-value vendors take 62.6% of every contract dollar on 12.8% of awards, while 87.2% of awards — the broad base of 183,024 registered suppliers — share the remaining third of value. Defence and naval shipbuilding dominate the very top; the department table shows where that value originates.
A note on names
The list is exactly as published, and near-duplicate legal-name variants are counted separately. Merging the two Irving Shipbuilding spellings would put the builder first at $44.4B; the two Vancouver Shipyards spellings combine to $37.0B; the two Groupe Signature sur le Saint-Laurent entries to $19.9B. Name normalization is applied nowhere in these rankings — a caveat to keep in mind when comparing counts across sources.
